What is the wastewater resource?

  1. Domestic (sanitary) wastewater: residences, commercial, institutional, public facilities discharge.
  2. Industrial wastewater: predominantly industrial discharge.
  3. Infiltration/Inflow: water enters the collection system though directly and indirectly.
  4. Stormwater: runoff resulting from rainfall and snowmelt.

What are the wastewater collection systems?

  1. Sanitary wastewater collection systems
  2. Combined collection systems: wastewater and stormwater together.
  3. Stormwater collection system

Wastewater constituent (bileşenleri) characterized?

1. Physical properties Colour, Odour, Solids, Temperature
2. Chemical properties

Organics - carbohydrates, fats, oil, grease, pesticides, phenols, proteins, priority pollutants, surfactants, volatile organic compounds (VOCs), others
Inorganic - alkalinity, chlorides, heavy metals, nitrogen, potassium, pH, phosphorus, priority pollutants, sulfur
Gases - hydrogen sulfide (H2S), methane, oxygen

3. Biological properties Animals, Helminths (worms), Plants, Protists (Eubacteria, Archaebacteria), Viruses
