Classification Of Wastewater Treatment Methods

Unit Process

Öncelikle merhaba, burayı çalışma alanı olarak kullacağım. Çıkarttığım özetleri buraya aktaracağım. Metcalf &Eddy - Wastewater Engineering kitabını, Water Reuse Kitabını, internet kaynaklarını kullandım burada. Doktora yeterlilik (PhD qualification exam) sınavı için hazırladım. Yüksek Lisans (Master) öncesi bu notlara bakabilirsiniz.

 Physical Unit Process:

  1. Screening,
  2. Mixing,
  3. Flocculation,
  4. Sedimentation,
  5. Flotation,
  6. Filtration
  7. Adsorption.

Chemical Unit Process: (removal of the constituent) Precipitation, gas transfer, adsorption, disinfection

  1. 1. Chemical addition
  2. 2. Chemical reactions
Note: Chemical precipitate can remove with settling, filtration or membrane process.

(1. Additon of oxygen is a chemical unit process 2. Chlorine disinfection)

Biological Unit Processes: Removal of the constituent by biological activity (also remove N & P)

  1. Removal of colloidal
  2. Dissolved biodegradable organic substances

Substances converts into:

  1. Gases to the atmosphere
  2. Biological cell tissue (doku) removed by settling or another solid’s separation process.

Note: The engineer responsible for proper environment and control the efficiency

Difference between precipitation and sedimentation in Environmental Engineering?

Sedimentation: is settling down the solid particle,
Precipitation: is a phase change with gas to liquid
Adsorption: (to take onto the surface of a solid)
    Absorption:  (to take in)

Difference between Unit Operation and Unit Process in Environmental Engineering?

Unit Operation: Physical Processes (Sedimentation, Filtration etc.
Unit Process: Chemical (disinfection, precipitation, ion exchange etc.) & Biological (Activated Sludge etc.)
